Love is NOT what you think

For most of my life I have always thought that the point of life was to love. I had always thought that you do everything in and for love. Even when I was a young teenager abandoning all logic for a boy who was only going to break my heart over and over again, NOTHING was going to deter me from that drunk in love feeling, existence.

So imagine my surprise when I became a Jesus follower and I found out that indeed the reason why I felt life was about love was because our whole existence was because of love. We were created out of love, not only saved, but redeemed and refreshed through love itself and this is all because Jesus is the utmost expression of love.

I found it really ironic and funny how you can be with or without Jesus and still have a longing for Christ. I found it extremely distressing when I realised no one falls in love, in fact you probably suffer more than benefit from it. Then I realised the point of love wasn’t necessarily you — but that ability to put all you have into someone else, to see them grow, shine, blossom, even more than you, even if it cost you.

It all calmed down when I stopped searching for love, when I found Jesus, he made it clear (because Spirit living) that in fact I am love, and I must exude it to be it, to receive it.
